Jail for Bradford man who threatened to stab woman with pair of scissors during 'sustained sexual assault'

A BRADFORD man has been jailed for more than four years after he threatened to stab a woman with a pair of scissors.
Sameer Sadiq, 33, had only been out of prison for a few weeks when he tried to kiss the woman and subjected her a sustained sexual assault during which he tried to remove her underwear.
Bradford Crown Court heard yesterday how the complainant, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, struggled to fight off Sadiq, but he then armed himself with the small pair of rusty scissors.
Prosecutor Kate Batty told the court that Sadiq put the scissors to the woman's neck and said: "I'll put these scissors in your throat".
Miss Batty said as Sadiq tried to pull down the woman's underwear she was biting him and scratching him to get him away.
At one stage, the complainant managed to telephone the police on her mobile, but Sadiq grabbed the phone from her and tried to persuade the operator that nothing was wrong.
The woman then used a landline to ring the police again and when Sadiq realised that officers were coming he left the house.
Miss Batty said officers found Sadiq "staggering around" heavily in drink and he was arrested.
Earlier this week Sadiq, who was jailed for 14 months in December 2014, pleaded guilty to the sexual assault charge and he also admitted breaching a court order.
Jailing Sadiq for 54 months, Judge Jonathan Durham Hall QC said the psychological harm suffered by the complainant was "incalculable" and Sadiq posed a danger to her and other women.
