Dramatic video emerges of police chase that led to motorist being jailed

A DRIVER filmed fleeing down the M62 at 100mph in a car stolen in a Bradford burglary has been jailed for a total of 28 months.
Footage from a pursuing police vehicle caught Dale Poppleton speeding off down the motorway slip road in a Citroen C1 on false number plates, Bradford Crown Court heard yesterday.
Officers briefly went up to 105mph along the slip road while chasing Poppleton, 34, off the eastbound carriageway at Junction 24.
They followed him through Elland, where he went 70mph in a 20 zone, drove straight across a junction and careered round blind bends on the wrong side of the road.
He was going so dangerously fast that the police lost sight of him, the court was told.
The car was then abandoned by Poppleton and his woman passenger.
The police helicopter was scrambled to find them and the couple were seen hiding by a river. Both had small amounts of cannabis on them.
Prosecutor Duncan Ritchie said the pursuit began shortly after 2pm. Officers on motorway patrol were alerted to the fact that the Citroen had been stolen when a Bradford woman was burgled, losing her vehicle, her phone and her handbag.
