Father and first husband of Bradford woman found strangled in Pakistan have appeared in court
THE father and first husband of a Bradford woman suspected to be the victim of an honour killing in Pakistan have appeared in court and been remanded for four days.
Samia Shahid, 28,of Manningham, died last month in Northern Punjab after she returned to the country to visit her family following reports that her father was seriously ill. A post-mortem examination later found she had been strangled.
Today, Bradford West MP Naz Shah said she had been informed Samia's father Choudary Shahid had been arrrested on suspicion of being an accessory to murder and that her first husband, who had failed to answer bail but had handed himself into police at noon Pakistan time today, had now been charged with her murder.
Ms Shah said: "There's a massive way to go. It's far from over, there's going to be lots of developments to come in the next few days."
Samia had been living in Dubai with her second husband Syed Mukhtar Kazam whom she married in Leeds in 2014.
