A CCTV image has been released of a man seen acting suspiciously and looking through windows on two occasions at a house.
Officers are making inquiries in Eldwick to trace the man and ‘establish what his intentions were.’
The householder, whose CCTV captured the man twice on two different occasions within three days, said other people in the village had seen him and challenged him at other addresses.
The resident said: “He has been seen on other people’s properties and when challenged he always gives the same mantra and asks if a certain person lives there. It sounds as though it’s the same man on my CCTV.
“If someone spills milk in this village it’s news so everyone is talking about this man. Someone told my wife about a machete and something to do with shotgun cartridges being stolen from a garage. That’s frightening. It could be the same man. He needs to be identified to the police,” he said.
The householder’s teenage son had been home alone on November 1 when the man was first picked up on CCTV and was on the property for about ten minutes looking through windows.
It was only when the dog started barking that his son looked out of the window and saw the man make off.
Three days later, CCTV at the house picked the man up once again, returning with a rucksack. When he was disturbed, he jumped over a garden fence.
“We just want him stopped,” said the householder, who did not want to be named.
