FIVE people have been arrested, including two in the Bradford area, as part of an operation in which a man was shot dead by police by the M62.
West Yorkshire Police said the fatality happened at about 6pm yesterday during a pre-planned operation near junction 24 of the motorway at Ainley Top, Huddersfield.
At the scene a silver Audi had bullet holes in its windscreen and bonnet.
Several of those arrested needed hospital treatment for injuries "not related to firearm discharge" but no police officers were hurt, a force spokesman said.

Police have confirmed that the incident was not terror-related, and the case has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said today: "We can confirm that there were five arrests in total during the operation, three from the incident and a further two from a related stop of another vehicle in the Chain Bar area of Bradford at about the same time.
"Traffic is able to access the M62 eastbound at Junction 24, however all other slip roads remain closed and are expected to be for some time.
